Indiana Representative Charles Halleck (L), Mrs. John Vohr, and Charles Graves, President, Ogden Dunes Town Board 2, 1959--Photo Credit-Stephen Mark. Rep. Halleck introduced legislation to create the Burns Harbor Waterway. At this meeting, Charles Graves announced Ogden Dunes would drop all lawsuits against the steel mills. Many Ogden Dunes residents, including founders of the Save the Dunes Council, fought to preserve the Indiana Dunes and create a national park.
